Meet The Team: Interview with Thomas Lohninger

Meet our new Frontend Developer, Thomas. We are happy that he is part of the craftworks team since November.

Enjoy the interview!

Firstly, could you start by explaining how you ended up at craftworks?

I was browsing DevJobs regularly to just see which companies are out there and what they want from their employees. So I saw that craftworks was looking for a Frontend developer and after investigating the company’s values and way of working I was sure that this is an opportunity I can’t let go without trying. And it worked 🙂

What did you do before craftworks?

I studied physics at the Technical University in Vienna, and am currently finishing my master’s degree in biomedical engineering. Besides my interest in science, I was always fascinated by programming and computers in general, so I worked as a programmer at Siemens Healthineers for a few years and also was self-employed as a web developer.

What made you want to apply for your position at craftworks?

The company values and the professional work environment were a big factor for me. I like to work with people who strive to make great work and are open-minded about new things.

Could you describe craftworks in 3 words?

Professional, inspiring, people

What does your typical day at craftworks look like?

I usually come to the office between 9 and 10 in the morning, say hello to everybody and after making a cup of coffee I sit down to plan my day. Those are the things that are almost always the same, other than that every day is different.

Could you tell us more about yourself? For example: what are your hobbys and where do you like to spend your time most?

I really like to travel and that is where most of my time and money goes to. On a day-to-day basis, watching movies and TV Shows is probably what I enjoy doing most – there is almost no day where I don’t watch at least something.

Which book would you recommend reading and why?

“Surely you’re joking, Mr Feynman” by Richard Feynman because it gives a glimpse in the fascinating life of one of the most influential physicists of the past century.

What about your work do you like the most?

That I can work self organized and have a feeling of progress when things are getting done.

3 short questions:

Mac or PC?

Mac

Office or remote?

I really like to work from home, but as our office is so beautiful, I tend to feel at home there as well 😉

Which music is playing on your player right now?

“Walk on the Wild Side” by Lou Reed

Thank you Thomas!
